I will be giving two seminar talks at the University of Sheffield, UK and the University of Lausanne, Switzerland. Approximate title: The geography of habitat suitability.
2017 May 17-31
I visited the Spatial Ecology Group ECOSPAT at the University of Lausanne for the fourth time. We are working on the H2020 project GEODEM Geography of Demography: modeling plant population responses to global habitat patterns with Prof. Antoine Guisan and Olivier Broennimann. I also had the chance to visit the Lavaux Vineyards, Unesco Heritage site, where The Chasselas grapes originate.
2017 January 9-13
I attended the 8th Biennial Conference of the International Biogeography Society, Tucson, Arizona.- 15 minutes talk titled 'Demographic strategies are more constrained in less suitable climates'. I chaired the Global Change Biogeography session. Conference book of abstracts available here. I also had the chance to visit the Sonoran Desert along with the iconic Carnegia gigantea - Saguaro cacti in a desert scrub ecosystem.
